My name is Imogen May (formerly known as Jo Barnes) and I was born and brought up in Cambridge, a beautiful city.
I studied my GCSEs at Impington Village College and then a GNVQ in Health and Social care at Cambridge Regional College. Now in my second year at Anglia Ruskin University, I am studying a BA(Hons) Photography.
My interest in art and photography has been evident since a young age but only took a more serious turn 5 years ago. Within that time I have had the pleasure of three exhibitions in Liverpool and Manchester and have been nominated for two awards through The North West Disability Arts Forum's 'DaDa Fest'.
My inspiration comes from all aspects of life including being a woman and having a disability. Currently I have been working very closely with young women who have been dealing with self harm and other mental health problems. My intent is to bring to light the awful pain young men and women experience growing up in todays climate.
Aside from my university work, I also do freelance contract and commission work. Recent work has included studio shots for a newly married couple, weddings, magazine shots for an orchestra including their rehearsal and live performance, portfolio shots for models, family portraits and work for businesses.
